Young girl missing as a result of child custody dispute

Arguably one of the most beautiful states in the nation, California is "home" to nearly 40 million people. While most are likely proud to be from the gem of the West Coast, the Golden State is certainly not immune to the sorts of stresses that affect modern day America as a whole. One of the most emotional things a parent may go through is the fright that can occur while enforcing a child custody order.

A custody order is a decree put in place by a court that establishes child custody and visitation terms. Sometimes, both parties can agreeably follow a child custody order, but that is not always the case. Unfortunately, parents sometimes decide to take the law into their own hands to avoid obeying an order they do not agree with.

Recent headlines tell the tale of a California mother who has reported her small daughter missing. The child was last seen with her father at a county courthouse. The mother had been granted full custody of the child shortly before both the child and the father went missing. Authorities currently believe the man has absconded with the child in a last-ditch effort to avoid complying with the child custody order.

Parenting in any form can be an emotional journey. Some parents find it difficult to accept the fact that the courts are given the ability to determine what is in the best interest of a child. When a parent becomes embroiled in a child custody dispute, he or she should be aware that there are legal avenues to object to and potentially modify a court order. In such cases, an attorney may be able to assist a parent in making his or her voice heard, without the parent breaking the law.
