The family home, community property and divorce

One of the most important decisions that a married couple will make is when and where to buy a home. This is the location in which they will live together and possibly raise a family. This particular spot will often hold many memories – some good and some not so good. However, whenever the California couple decides to divorce, what to do with this home can become an even more important decision.

Domestic violence: Physical, emotional or financial abuse

It happens on a daily basis across California and the country in general. One never knows what actually happens behind the closed door of another's home; however, behind many of these doors, domestic violence is an issue. In fact, the month of October has been named as "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" in at least one California county.

Divorce and decisions that need to be made

For some, the end of their marriage is the beginning of a new life. Once they decide to divorce, many California residents want to begin creating this new life as soon as possible. However, along with this decision comes a multitude of other decisions, some of which should be made immediately, and some of which should be carefully thought through prior to taking any action.

Child support is important part of caring for children

The California legal system has a responsibility to protect the children within its jurisdiction. This protection takes many forms including insuring that children attend school and have a safe environment in which to live. Perhaps one of the most vital forms of this protection is through its direction of and enforcement of child support.
