Divorce may be the best part of the marriage

Other than the children, sometimes the best part of a marriage is its end. When a marriage becomes a miserable experience, many times it is time to decide that a divorce could be the best step forward. However, when a California couple with children decides that it is time to divorce, they typically gain by remembering that there are others involved whose feelings and emotions are important as well.

One way in which the couple can help the children with the divorce is by setting the example for them. Many times, children do not understand how to properly express their feelings. If they see their parents constantly arguing, they will often assume that this is appropriate behavior. However, if they see their parents calmly discussing the situation, this will become the assumed behavior. For this reason, it may be best to save the heated discussions for times when the children are not present.

Another item to consider is that while the couple may no longer be married, they are still both parents to the same children. They will need to learn to work together when it comes to things that concern their children. It is important for the children to know that both parents are still there for them and to not make them feel as if they must choose one parent over the other.

While divorce can be the best thing that happens to a California marriage, it can also be a stressful time for the children. For this reason, it is often a good idea to save the important conversations for the attorney's offices or other area in which the children are not present. The children will then see two parents who have decided that while the marriage failed, they are still loved by both parents.
