Amanda Stanton and a California child custody agreement

Long after the divorce papers have been signed, many California parents find that they must still find a way to work with their former marital partner. The primary reason for this continued relationship is the children. Often, each parent has his or her own ideas about what is best for the children. When these ideas do not match, there can often be child custody issues.

Recently, Amanda Stanton of The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise fame has found herself in a custody dispute with her children's father. Ms. Stanton currently has custody of the two girls and receives child support. However, the girl's father has expressed concern over the media attention the girls have received and the new lifestyle to which they are being brought into.

As a contestant on The Bachelor, Ms. Stanton brought the girls on the show where they did appear as part of one of the episodes. Although she did not bring them on The Bachelor in Paradise, the girls still received considerable attention from the media. All of this public attention has resulted in the girls' father expressing concern regarding their well-being.

The current custody agreement indicates that girls are to reside with Ms. Stanton 65 percent of the time. However, during her most recent reality show appearance, the girls stayed with their father the entire time. According to the father, she directed him to take the matter before the courts if he wished to have the custody agreement altered.

Although divorce papers are signed and child custody agreements are in place, things often happen that cause a California parent to believe that changes need to be made in the best interest of the children. While some parents are able to work the details out among themselves, others find it necessary to pursue the matter through either mediation or the court system. Regardless of the situation, it is prudent to have experienced legal counsel review the situation and offer guidance in establishing changes to the current child custody agreement.
