California: Domestic violence is not acceptable

Each California couple's relationship has a different set of dynamics. Some couples enjoy going out to dinner and enjoying a night on the town. Other couples prefer to stay in and enjoy home-cooked meals and watch television or play cards. Whether married or dating, California spouses often spend time enjoying each other's company. However, sometimes, the dynamic takes a negative turn and domestic violence becomes an issue.

Although domestic violence can begin at the start of a relationship, there are often only subtle warning signs. As a relationship becomes more established, the possibility of these warning signs becoming more visible increases.  Sometimes there are specific triggers that cause an individual to become violent; other times anything can set off a violent individual. Additionally, financial circumstances do not dictate whether one will become violent.

Recently, a wealthy California businessman was found guilty of domestic violence. Reports indicate that this man has a history of domestic violence against women. In this particular case, he attacked his victim who was visiting him in his penthouse. At the time that this incident took place, the businessman was already on probation for attacking another woman in the same location.

Domestic violence can take place without warning. It can present itself at the beginning of a relationship or years later. Regardless of whether a couple is married or just dating, violence is not acceptable. If a California resident finds him or herself to be a victim of domestic violence, he or she can benefit from legal guidance regarding the legal options available.
