How to make back-to-school shopping easier

While back-to-school shopping commercials may not be seen for a few weeks, it is likely on parents’ minds; especially those who are recently separated or divorced. After all, shopping for the new school year may be different depending on your children’s ages. The kids may need flash drives, tablets and new cell phones, in addition to pencils, pens and most importantly (depending on the child) new clothes.

For those parents who have child support obligations (or for those who receive support), school shopping can be particularly difficult. The parent who provides payment may feel as if they don’t have any further obligation for support outside of the court order. The parent who receives support may feel as if they don’t receive enough compensate for school shopping.

So in these situations, what are parents to do? This post will highlight a few money saving tips

Shop around – Indeed, you may see a lot of the same prices when it comes to different retailers, but knowing how to use electronic coupons can make the difference. After all, a 20 percent savings on one purchase may not seem like much, but when multiplied, it could be a big difference.

Research what you need – If you are looking for a computer, knowing the exact specifications about what you need is helpful in saving money. Who needs a tablet with only 16 gigabytes of space, or a laptop with 500 gigabytes of space. One is too small, while the other is too large for a child’s needs.

Think about refurbished items – If you are unfamiliar with refurbished (i.e. used) items, you may be surprised that they are nearly as effective as new items, but at a lower price.
